Sloppy Joes Courtesy of New Hope Baptist!
Who doesn’t love a sloppy joe? How long has it been since you’ve had a sloppy joe? Well for some of our guests it’s been a long time. So when I wrote sloppy joes on the board, there was a collection of smiles and questions. “Are you really serving slopping joes for lunch?” I happily replied, “Yes we are!”
Now that the easy part was out of the way (writing on the board what was for lunch) the hard part began, and by the time I walked back into the kitchen, the burners were on and the meat was in the pans. Our lovely chefs set to work cooking what appeared to be 120 pounds of ground beef. They added in the spices, the peppers and onions and let it simmer. Our sloppy joes were looking good (and smelling even better)!
While cooking ground beef doesn’t look that delicious, I can tell you first hand the end result was fantastic! While the beef cooked it was time to start cutting and dicing the vegetables for the salad. While they were working diligently, I snapped a few photos.
Time flies at St. John’s and before we knew it, it was 10:30am and all the prep work was done. Now it was time to begin plating the meals so we could serve lunch! By this time everyone starting coming in and before we knew it the kitchen was packed!
Our kitchen experts knew exactly what to do and required no instruction. They set out to plate and were done extremely quickly. We even got a chance to take one of the meals and do a photo shoot. I personally had a lot of fun, and I think everyone that came did too. That’s why they keep coming back, doing a great thing and having fun is all part of the St. John’s experience. It was so nice to see everyone, and I look forward to October 5th. I wonder what we’ll have on the menu then! Until next time everyone!
