Coronavirus and How You Can Help

The economic crisis the coronavirus has caused has changed the world dramatically and we are all feeling the strain of the economic slowdown. St. John’s has witnessed the effects first hand and the need for meals has surged since the outbreak began. We have seen an increasing number of guests and the line seems to grow everyday. Kitchens and pantries in the area have been forced to shut their doors because of the risk the virus poses. However, St. John’s remained opened and we have done everything we can to streamline our service and reduce risk for our guests and volunteers.

In order to limit the number of interactions, we have combined our breakfast and lunch service, serving both meals at 10:30AM. We are living in uncertain times but one thing that is certain is that St. John’s needs your help more than ever. We are making it our mission to continue serving for as long as we can during this outbreak. Our guests are incredibly grateful for what we do, we can do it because of our wonderful supporters. We hear everyday from our guests that they don’t know what they would do if we closed our doors. This is only possible because of our supports, donors and volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you and we are asking for your help once again. We are hoping for a quick resolution to the crisis, but right now you can make a difference today. Because of the CDC’s recommendation to practice social-distancing we are asking those who support us to consider donating. If you or your group would like to contribute in another way, please call us at (973)623-0822 or e-mail us at volunteer@njsoupkitchen.org. We are incredibly thankful for our amazing community and with your help we will continue to help our guests as long as we can.
