Two Months and Still Going Strong!

The COVID-19 Pandemic has made us aware how delicate the world can be at times. For a lot of people, the difference between having a meal and going without is a missed paycheck. We have witnessed this harsh reality at St. John’s, and it’s something a lot of us are dealing with. The situation is clear, we as a community, have to come together and help those who might not otherwise get the help they need.

We have witnessed our community step up the challenge and address it head on. We are so grateful for our generous, kind and caring family. The St. John’s family is a testament to the good that exists in our world. People from all walks of life have stepped forward and have made it known that they are here and they are ready to help. For that we are eternally grateful. We cannot say it enough, we could NOT do it without you. Our guests have even said that without your help they would be on their own. Because of your hard work and generosity St. John’s is a moment of respite. Together we are the helping hand that offers a sandwich, a hot meal and a safe place in an extremely uncertain time.

We are grateful for the outpouring amount of support. Sandwiches have been delivered, donations of dry goods, fresh vegetables and monetary donations have been made. All of this has gone towards combatting the most basic of human needs: Hunger and Thirst. The response we have had from our community is incredible, and we thank you.

Together we will get through these trying times. We sorely miss the energy and optimism that our volunteers. We miss the busy kitchen, the smiles and the laughs we share together. Normalcy may yet return but we are not out of the woods. Even now many charities, kitchens and food banks are still closed. We have been able to serve the influx in guests because of you. Thank you, we could not do it without you!
