Lasagna Saturday!

The soup kitchen has been so busy recently, and we’re so happy that we’re starting to see some of our volunteers again! We have had to be quite strict with our safety measures. Our guests rely on the soup kitchen everyday so it would be unfair to jeopardize our mission however great it would be to have everyone back. We are grateful for everyone’s understanding, we know it has been a difficult year but the St. John’s community has rallied and really come together in an astonishing way.

This past Saturday we are happy to say that lasagna was served again! It’s always a tremendous hit and a definite break from our normal menu. Because of the hard work of the entire group, all of the guests of St. John’s were able to received a generous portion of lasagna. I was inspired by their lasagna and decided to make my own. I can tell you it’s not easy! It’s definitely worth it though, and the fact that our community took the time to make it for our guests is something special. We are so thankful for their generosity, and it seems to me at least, a sign that things are slowly returning to normal.

All of us at St. John’s are so eager to return to our normal service. It seems to be just around the corner, but we have to remind ourselves that this is a marathon and not a sprint. We have done so well for so long and we are so grateful for the good fortune we have had.

From everyone at St. John’s, Thank you! We couldn’t do it without you!!
