Happy Valentines Day!
It’s now Valentines Day and at the soup kitchen we try to remind our guests that they are loved by those who serve them. Small things can make huge differences and decorating the dining area, no matter the holiday, can positively influence the moods of our guests and our volunteers. Through decorating the dining room our volunteers show that they care not only about the food they serve, but also they care about the place where our guests enjoy their meal. It makes the room feel more personal and our guests feel welcomed. In that way our dining hall becomes more than just a place to eat. It’s a warm and welcoming environment where our guests understand that we’re here to help in anyway we can. It’s important for us to remind ourselves and our guests that this isn’t just a place to eat. It’s a place where a helping hand will always be extended. A place where our guests can engage in conversation without being ignored. St. John’s is a place where no one is marginalized and everyone is treated with respect. We are proud of our volunteers for their patience and their commitment to the betterment of St. John’s. We always welcome our volunteers embracing the spirit and going above and beyond! They did a spectacular job and it’s a testament of the St. John’s experience!
